Spain
Spain has always been the favourite holiday destination for us Brits. However, recently more and more of us have been swapping the Spanish beaches for Spanish golf courses.
La Cala golf hotel and spa in Malaga is Spain's largest golf resort. It has three golf courses, properties and a luxury hotel and spa. The golf course is set in a stunning location, surrounded by Spanish mountains and the Mediterranean sea.
The resort has everything golf enthusiasts could wish for. The three 18 hole golf courses offer varying levels of difficulty and challenges and the resort also has an executive 6 hole course situated in beautiful hills.
If you feel like a break away from the golf course then you can always try your hand at squash or simply relax in the clubhouse.
Another luxury golf resort in Spain is the PGA Catalunya. It was voted the number 1 golf course in the country in 2012.
Players have said that the resort has an obvious wow factor, with beautiful green fir trees and a large number of lakes which blend into the landscape. There are two courses in total, the Stadium and Tour course, both surrounded by nature forests and water.
Dubai
Jumeirah golf course is one of the best known golf courses in Dubai. It opened in November 2009 in time for the first Dubai World Championship. The courses are part of Jumeirah Golf Estates, a luxury golfing community containing four courses called Fire, Earth, Water and Wind. All have a different environmental theme. The Fire course is said to be the most challenging, with its notoriously deep bunkers. Some of the traps even contain stepladders to help!
Dubai itself has been rapidly growing in popularity over recent years as tourists flock to the country to experience luxury and beautiful scenery. The Jumeirah golf community will definitely not let you down.
England
Although we may not be able to rely on the weather in Britain, there is no shortage of stunning luxury golf resorts. Scotland has a whole host of courses set in beautiful surroundings, with the famous St. Andrews and Carnoustie being amongst the most popular. Royal St. Georges golf course in England is arguably one of the most popular and well known in the country as it has hosted a total of 14 Open Championships. There is also a wide range of golf courses in the North East of England, many combined with stunning luxury hotel resorts for the perfect holiday or weekend get-away.
